To Township Residents,

The planned town home community on Pawling Road at Ferry Lane will be coming before the Schuylkill Township Board of Supervisors before the end of this year for final approval (please check the published agendas for when the Board will review this plan). Within the 29.8-acre property on which the townhomes are to be built is an area of 19.5 acres protected by a Conservation Easement purchased by the Township in 2016.

A conservation easement is a legally binding agreement that permanently restricts types of uses and prevents development from taking place in perpetuity while the land, maintenance responsibilities and tax obligations remain in private hands. The easement agreement is binding whether the property is sold or passed on to heirs. Natural Lands, a non-profit organization which preserves open space in eastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey, holds the right to enforce the terms of the conservation easement agreement for this property. The easement on the Pawling Road property will be a permanent buffer between The Meadows at Valley Forge development and the new town homes community.

The heavy black outline denotes the property line. A yellow line indicates the public trail which will be a natural surface trail approximately 3 feet wide. The green lines are possible future extensions to the trail. The trails as well as the conservation area will be maintained by the town home development's community association.
