EAC Members:  Earl Cram, Michelle Garg, Mary Ellen Heisey, Steve Kunz, Jerry O’Dell & Mike Roscoe.
Board of Supervisors (BOS): Jim Morrisson & Fred Parry
Public participation: Maarten Persenaire from Sunwood Farms for meeting observation only.

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm. Meeting adjourned at 8:39pm.

  1. EAC Meeting Summary Approval
    • The meeting summary of the November 2015 meeting was read and approved.  
  2. Announcements
    • Mr. O’Dell announced that he will attend the land ethics symposium in March 2016.
  3.      Reports/Updates on Ongoing Business
    • Bird Town -
      • Ms. Heisey attended the Design with Natives meeting and presented the Butterfly Garden project.
      • Ms. Heisey announced that Mr. Rogers will not host any backyard workshops in 2016. 
    • Environmental Resources Inventory (ERI) -
      • Mr. Kunz announced that Gilmore and Associates completed the requested updates, at no additional cost to the Township.  The maps only need narratives added to complete the ERI.
      • Mr. Morrisson would like the EAC to investigate the streams not officially named to be identified and have names added to them as a future EAC project.
    • Pickering Preserve -
      • Mr. O’Dell announced that most of the fall/winter mowing is complete.
      • Mr. O’Dell announced that he and Ms. Majewski will submit the Butterfly Garden project for the Growing Greener Award.
    • Trails -  
      • Mr. O’Dell announced he attended the Freedom Trail Feasibility Study Committee on December 9th. The public Sidewalk Feasibility Study meeting will be held in January/February at Township building.
    • Valley Park -
      • Mr. O’Dell announced the Trolley Station subcommittee meetings will begin in 2016. Dates are to be determined.
      • Mr. O’Dell announced that the wet meadow mowing is complete and most tree debris was removed from the park.
    • Medal of Honor Grove -
      • Mr. O’Dell placed wreaths on Ohio, Oklahoma and Rhode Island.
  4.     Developments
    • Nolen Property on Pawling’s Road
      • Not discussed.
    • Pohlig Builders - Reeves Property/Planned Residential Development (PRDO)
      • Not discussed.
    • Self-Storage unit – 305 Kimberton Rd.
      • Construction in progress.  To be removed from the EAC agenda/summary.
    • PASD-  
      • Construction in progress.  To be removed from the EAC agenda/summary.
    • The University of Valley Forge Conference Center- Harmony Village at Valley Forge
      • No updates.
  5.     EAC Meeting 
    • EAC dates
      • 2016 EAC adjusted dates are 19April2016 and one combined meeting for November December to be held on 29Nov2016.
    • EAC terms expiring  on January 2016
      • Confirmed desired renewals of terms for: M. Garg, M. Heisey, M. Roscoe.
      • Mr. O’Dell will remain as Chair, Ms. Garg as Secretary.
    • 2016 EAC workshops
      • Mr. O’Dell to discus with township manager options to develop an EAC survey to poll residents for what they would like included in an environmental workshop.
    • 2016 EAC meeting
      • EAC will extend an invitation to other Schuylkill Township commission members to attend an EAC meeting next year.
  6. New Business
    • Chester County Natural Heritage Inventory
      • One Natural Heritage Area identified in Schuylkill Township.  EAC to review and discuss at next meeting.
    • Chester County Master Watershed Stewardship
      • Mr. Cram reviewed program details. Applications can be submitted on 01Feb2016 and classes begin in March.
