Schuylkill Township celebrated Founders Day on November 4, 2006. A plaque illustrating the burial plots at the Anderson Cemetery on Valley Park Road was unveiled at an 11:00 o'clock ceremony.
At that time, Dr. John Lukacs was presented the First Annual Schuylkill Township Distinguished Citizen Award by Supervisor Norm Vutz. Pennsylvania Representative Carole Rubley also presented him with a commemorative award, and Khalil Hihi of the Historical Commission honored Dr. Lukacs with a replica of the cemetery plaque. Dr. John Lukacs' first wife was an Anderson. He is a long-time resident of Schuylkill Township, a well-known author of more than 25 books, and served for 34 years on the Township Planning Commission.
A light lunch was served in the Township Building after the ceremony.
The Founders Day celebration, an annual event, is sponsored by the Historical Commission of Schuylkill Township.
